I don’t like sales calls, if I want something, I’ll call you, go to your business, or go online.
For a while, quite a while now, when I want to check out a video I have to listen for “only 30 seconds” to an advertisement, usually for something I have no interest in. Then throughout the video ads pop-up. To see the video, I have to click the X. I kept track of the number of ad pop-ups in three-minute videos. There were anywhere from three to four!
So what did I do? I wrote down the name of that business with a label at the top: Do NOT SHOP HERE.
Did I feel better, you bet, until the next time.
My wonderful husband tells me that they have to make a living. I agree, but imagine the world without ads—the world where soliciting is outlawed.
I don’t need someone tell me that I need to buy my kids an online Encyclopedia. I don’t need them to tell me that I’m a terrible parent if I won’t buy it for my kids. They never asked me if I had kids at home.
The past five months, I have had two people get mad at me because I wouldn’t donate money to their cause.
I’m tired of being told what to do, what I need, and how to spend my money by people I don’t know.
