One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do was forgive someone. I’m talking about the times when someone hurts you deeply, and they refuse to admit that they’ve done anything wrong.
I went to someone who had hurt me in a big way. It took a couple of years before I was ready to forgive her. I finally went to her home and told her that I’d forgiven her. By the time I was finished, tears rolled down my cheeks, and my arms were wrapped around her.
She stood stiffly in front of me. She didn’t return my hug. She did nothing. She could have been a statue.
I released her from my hug, and didn’t say anything more about it.
Later, God told me three things I will never forget.
1. That I did what He had told me to do.
2. That forgiveness is for me, not the other person.
3. And that now He can forgive me of my sins.
Please remember that there are several reasons why we forgive and the first is because God tells us to! Two weeks later, she was died. If I hadn’t followed God, I would have spent the rest of my life bound to that unforgiveness. Thank you, Lord!
Next week, I will finish the topic of Forgiveness.
Is there someone you need to forgive? Pray about it. However, don’t wait too long!
